Original white calf with gilt lettering to spine and with top edge gilt, all edges untrimmed, black and white illustrations throughout with 11 colour plates accompanied by captions; housed in original publisher's slipcase with printed label to front board; [xii], 178; bumping to head and tail of spine and with slight offsetting marks from pastedown; slipcase scuffed at extremities with some signs of soiling; overall a very good copy. First UK edition, numbered 238 of 500 numbered copies on handmade paper. A pivotal figure of the Golden Age of British book illustration, Arthur Rackham produced work for Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens , Alice in Wonderland and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm .
