Southern Living Annual Recipes 1982–1990 – 9 Book Vintage Cookbook Set A wonderfully well-loved set of nine vintage Southern Living Annual Recipes hardcover cookbooks — 1982 through 1990 — published by Oxmoor House. Each volume is packed with a full year of Southern Living recipes, menus, cooking ideas, and wonderfully nostalgic 1980s food inspiration. But my favorite part of this particular set isn't actually the recipes. It's the previous owner. ❤️ Open the covers and you'll find that most of these books contain handwritten recipe names, page numbers, notes, or other little reminders left by the person who used them before. Some entries are circled, some are written in different inks, and some are squeezed into whatever space was still available. It's basically her personal “these are the good ones” index, and I think it's absolutely charming. The 1982 volume even has faint handwriting on the front cover that appears to say “Monkey Bread.” Apparently Monkey Bread was important enough that she needed to know about it before she even opened the book. 😂 And when all the recipes already in these books weren't enough, she taped an additional recipe inside one of them — another little piece of her cooking history that I've left exactly as I found it.
