Antique 3-book lot of STANDARD CATHOLIC READERS BY GRADES by Mary E. Doyle, published by the American Book Company. Included in this lot: • Fourth Year • Fifth Year • Seventh Year These books are part of the "Eight Book Series" of Standard Catholic Readers by Grades. The copyright pages show copyright dates of 1909 and 1913. The readers combine Catholic religious instruction with literature, poetry, history and traditional reading selections. Authors represented throughout the books include well-known literary figures such as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, William Shakespeare, Alfred Tennyson, Washington Irving, Herman Melville, William Cullen Bryant, James Russell Lowell and others, along with Catholic religious and historical selections. The books feature original blue cloth hardcover bindings and period illustrations. CONDITION: These are antique schoolbooks more than 100 years old and show expected signs of age and use. Covers have rubbing, fading, spotting/staining and edge/corner wear. Pages show normal age toning and occasional spotting/staining. Bindings appear intact and the books remain very readable. No missing pages have been noticed, but the books have not been inspected page-by-page for completeness. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description. This is a THREE-BOOK PARTIAL SET consisting of Fourth Year, Fifth Year and Seventh Year.
