If I person wants a clear cut view into the world of realism and objectivity there is no better author to learn from than Ayn Rand. I read Atlas Shrugged in college and it changed my outlook on personal responsibility, the mindset of being industrious and particularly money and how it is gained and the beauty of capitalism. Ms. Rand grew up in Russian including the early years of communist Soviet Union and describes in her philosophy the destructive nature of communism and how it kills the human spirit to exce and strive for greatness. Who better to listen to than someone who has been there. Ms. Rand has had a profound effect on how economics are even treated at the government level and established herself as one of the greatest minds for the virtues of capitalism and the mindset of objectivity in a person's reasoning. When I finished reading the book Atlas Shrugged I literally had goose-bumps on the top of my forearms and it was though I had been just struck by a bolt of common sense and insight into a world of thought I never knew existed. Literally life changing.
