[4], 307, [1, colophon]; [4], 239, [1, blank]; [4], 323, [1, blank] pp. Bound with all half-titles. The title-page and half-title of volume II have been supplied from another volume I copy, and the "II" is completed in ink manuscript. Bound by P. Hembra on quarter later calf over marbled boards. Red morocco spine labels, lettered in gilt. Spines stamped and lettered in gilt. Newer endpapers. All leaves uncut. Some occasional foxing and toning to leaves. A few leaves with small tears at corners, with no loss of text. Some occasional dog-ear creasing to a few corners. Overall a very good set. According to Chapman, there is "no external evidence that the author had any part in the second edition; and it contains no changes that can be attributed to revision." "Despite some success with her first published novel, Sense and Sensibility, Austen sold all rights and profits of Pride and Prejudice to publisher Thomas Egerton. Upon its release on January 18, 1813, the book gained a wide readership, and Egerton printed a second edition later that year.
