The recipients were John Egerton and Ann Bleidt. John Egerton (1935 - 2013) was an author and journalist writing extensively on Southern culture and race relations. Removed remainder mark from the text block, minor soiling to the rear board, but generally a decent copy overall. In a price-clipped dust jacket with a bit of fading to the spine. A classic work by one of the greatest modern American novelists. Set in the 1950s, the novel focuses on Cornelius Suttree, an outcast living in Knoxville, and his strange circle of associates. McCarthy worked on the book on and off for over twenty years, mining his own experiences growing up and living in Tennessee. Very well received at its release, Nelson Algren declared Suttree “a memorable American comedy by an original storyteller... a book with rude, startling power and a flood of talk… like a good, long scream in the ear."
